In October, 1995 Ken Scott became the first person to invest in a Community Investment Note. In those days our investors had to fill in an investment application and return it to us along with a check. Since then more than $1 billion has been cumulatively invested into the Note.
The launch of our online investment portal Vested.org in June, 2014 gave investors the ability to make and manage investments at a few clicks of a button. Last week after two years of operation, we hit an exciting milestone: more than $1 million has been invested through Vested.org!
One million dollars may seem like small potatoes next to $1 billion, but more important than the dollar amount is the number of new investors who have been exposed to impact investing through Vested.org. Since the launch of the platform, more than 80% of new direct investors have come to Calvert Foundation through Vested.org, furthering our goal to democratize impact investing.
From our initial mail-in investment offering, to making the Note available in brokerage accounts, to selling online through Vested.org, Calvert Foundation has consistently been a leader in the impact investing field when it comes to making investing accessible to anyone who wants to put their money to work for social and environmental good.
We are committed to keeping the Community Investment Note available online for as little as $20 and we’re excited about our continued work to improve Vested.org! We hope you’ll be a part of the next million.
