“Originally established by President Richard Nixon in 1970, the EPA has a long and distinguished track record of reducing pollution, saving lives and providing industry the clarity it needs to thrive and innovate for the benefit of the country and the economy. Under the Clean Air Act, the EPA — in both Democratic and Republican administrations — has guided industry to make massive reductions in air pollution and has begun to tackle climate change. Similar progress and vital protections have been achieved under the Clean Water Act and other essential environmental laws.

We need an EPA Administrator who respects the agency as well as the science underlying the EPA’s mission to protect public health. The new administrator must also recognize that a healthy environment is essential to a robust and growing economy.”
