Deep in thought around bringing money into markets that matter at this year’s SOCAP conference in Ft Mason, San Francisco, impact investors were joined by special guests, the Blue Angels. I caught up with these hotshots to hear their thoughts on emerging fields and get their perspective on the conference.
IA – Thank you for agreeing to this interview. It’s an honor.
BA – No trouble at all, actually, it’s our job to disrupt SOCAP!
IA – I was in the Conservation Financing session this afternoon and you made a lot of noise in there. Can you elaborate some more on your position?
BA – Well Maura, we Fly 500 mph, with wing tips 6 inches apart, pulling 7G turns – so you can understand that we were kind of disappointed over your lack of get-up on investing in conservation. Wait until the market matures? De-Risking investments, abdominal! We live for risk! (high-fives)
IA – The Navy is providing considerable funding into companies developing military-grade jet fuel that emits less green house gas emissions than their petroleum counterparts – do you consider this a play at stacked capital?
BA – We’d rather not comment on that at this time ma’am. Blue Angels are simply trying to level the plane field and not burn bridges.
IA – Seems like you guys are really good at collaboration and team building, what do you do when somebody veers off course.
BA – Well, it’s an agile process Maura. You have to be a captain and drive hard.
IA – Do you have a case study on how you might scale?
BA – Yea, we’re in the clouds…er cloud.
IA – Capito. Well, I bet you’d like to cool your jets after a hard days work; will you be joining us tonight for the Impact Hub closing party?
BA – We can’t hover around unfortunately. If only we had ospreys instead of hornets!
IA – Thanks for stopping by you guys!
BA – You bet! We’re invested in making an impact wherever we go.
