In our Spring/Summer 2019 newsletter we take a moment celebrate our 35th anniversary and reflect on how our organization and our community has grown over the years. We visit with a longtime partner, Camphill Communities California, near the Santa Cruz foothills, to learn how they have created a life-sharing community for adults with developmental disabilities in a way that nurtures the heart, soul, and mind of every person. Next, we head down to the Salinas Valley and to Paicines Ranch to spotlight three of our current Integrated Capital Institute Fellows at their recent in-person intensive where they delved deeper into how to activate capital to create lasting, positive, and systemic change while building community and connection. Finally, we visit with two partners, Pawanka Fund and Tamalpais Trust, who work together to support grantmaking to indigenous peoples around the globe in a way that respects land, indigenous culture, and human creativity, while exploring how to evolve beyond philanthropy’s traditional paradigm.
