ImpactAlpha is excited to again be a media sponsor of SOCAP, the annual gathering of the Social Capital Markets community. SOCAP 15 kicks off a little later than usual, and runs October 6-9 at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco.
We’re particularly looking forward to the 30 sessions that emerged from SOCAP Open — the conference’s competition for fresh and original content produced by the SOCAP community. Public votes and an advisory panel helped organizers choose from more than 200 suggestions.
The winning panels include topics the field has long been grabbling with — like impact measurement — as well as new conversations that will be top of participants’ minds — like combating drought and forest fires with finance. See all thirty panels here.
Here are three of our favorites:
Faith perspectives on impact investing. Faith-based investors are the original impact investors. They’re also some of the world’s largest investors, managing billions in pensions and endowments. As religious institutions increase their activity in social capital markets, we look forward to learning more about their investment strategies.
Bigger Isn’t Always Better: Accelerating Microbusinesses in Local Economies. Large, high-growth companies get most of the attention from investors. So we love that this panel will explore the importance of small businesses to local economies. We look forward to learning more about how local pioneering organizations (like Atlanta’s Start:ME) and communities are mobilizing resources around these overlooked, and underdeveloped, microbusinesses.
Launching the Next Generation of Innovators: Cultivating and Investing in Impact Ventures Emerging From Universities. Universities are hotbeds of talent and innovation. How do impact investors fairly vet impact ventures emerging from universities? How are universities building support around emerging social entrepreneurs? We’re eager to hear how to tap the academic pipeline of entrepreneurs and startups.
Don’t forget to grab your SOCAP15 tickets now (prices go up after the end of July).
