Want to be an RSF Integrated Capital Fellow? Apply By April 15, 2017

April 8, 2017 By IWV Partner

RSF is a nonprofit financial services organization dedicated to transforming the way the world works with money. In service of their mission to educate, support and inspire the next generation of integrated capital practitioners and catalyze the flow of money to support healthy, regenerative economies in all communities, they have created the RSF Integrative Capital Fellowship. The Fellowship offers a nine-month program that is designed to educate, support and connect financial activists. When SOCAP Convener Kevin Jones first heard about RSF Finance’s new Integrated Capital Fellowship he said, “Training for financial activists. How cool is that?”

RSF is currently accepting applications for the program. They are currently searching for up to 20 Fellows to participate in the 2017-2018 cohort. RSF has long been a partner of SOCAP and a valued member of our community. If you or someone you know is a good fit for the Fellowship, we encourage you to apply. Here is some critical information on the program:

What is Integrated Capital?

“Integrated Capital” is defined as the coordinated use of diverse forms of financial capital and non-financial capital to support enterprises and strategies that are addressing complex social and environmental problems. To leverage integrated capital, conscious investors need professional, values-aligned practitioners equipped with strong skills, tools and strategies.

Why was the RSF Integrated Capital Fellowship Created?

Growing demand from conscious investors and donors necessitates new ways for wealth holders to engage with capital. We’ve seen this vision manifest as thousands of highly motivated wealth holders are activating the majority of their assets towards lasting well-being for society and the environment. A new clarity is emerging, one that recognizes that the stewardship of great sums of money includes a duty to the greater whole. This clarity has engendered an entirely new form of activism, one in which money is used creatively as a powerful tool to improve the world.

Who is a Good Candidate for the Fellowship?

Qualifications for the position include:

  • A deep desire to effect positive change (“financial activist” impulse).
  • Experience in finance (investing, lending, or giving/philanthropy).
  • A strong desire to learn and evolve (personally/internally and professionally/collectively).
  • The ability to influence the flow of capital and support regenerative systems.
  • A commitment to be present and engaged at all program intensives.

How will the Fellowship Be Structured?

RSF’s Integrated Capital Fellowship is a nine-month program centered around three in-person training intensives, access to one-on-one expert advisors, peer coaching, case studies, webinars, and independent study. The curriculum focuses on long-term systemic change and covers the individual and collective work needed to transform our outdated economy, moving it from extraction to regeneration.

The first intensive will be in October 2017 (outside Boston), the second will be in Feb. 2018 (in California), and the third will be in June 2018 (on Cortes Island).

Who will serve as Curating Faculty and Facilitators:?

Fellows will learn alongside a group of experts in the field to partner with principals to help them move capital in alignment with their values and vision.

  • Joel Solomon, Renewal Funds, Hollyhock, Author
  • Marian Moore, Play BIG, Lead with Land, Coach
  • Akaya Windwood, Rockwood Leadership Institute, Opportunity Collaboration

A list of core One-on-One Advisors includes

  • Esther Park, Cienega Capital
  • Birju Pandya, RSF Social Finance
  • Dawn McGee, Goodworks Ventures
