Good Finance, which guides charities and social enterprises through the social investment process, launches a new website today. This is the second phase of a year-long collaboration between key social investment sector partners including Big Society Capital, Access, DCMS, NCVO, Social Enterprise UK and Matter & Co.
The project is the result of user-focused design research and workshops with a variety of UK charities and social enterprises.
Unlike other types of investing, the goal of social investments includes achieving a social impact in addition to receiving a financial return.
Social enterprises are a growing field. In the UK, for example, 49 per cent of social enterprises are five years old or less according to the 2015 State of Social Enterprise Report. As the social investment market expands, ‘charities and social enterprises have often struggled to navigate this challenging and complex world,’ Kieran Whiteside, Project Manager for Good Finance, said.
Good Finance includes updated content and case studies, guidance for users decide if social investment makes sense for them and the ‘first ever’ directory of social investors and advisors.
‘Our hope is that this new website will help charities and social enterprises feel empowered to make informed and educated investment decisions that are right for them’ said Whiteside.
